Procedure to Import List Items

You can import list items from the Configurator and the Web App. We can find the import option in the following paths.

Option 1. From the Web App

  1. Navigate to Web App > Lists.
  2. Click on the list card in which you want to import list items.

    You can find the import option on the top right corner as Import Items.

Option 2. From the Configurator

  1. Navigate to Configurator > Lists.
  2. Click on the list card in which you want to import list items.

    You can find the Import option in the List Actions.
You can use both the above options to import the items to a List spec. You can also refer to the Reference Manual for the step-by-step procedure to import the list items. Check out the Import List Items page.

Scenario

If you follow the above procedure to import the list items for the “list in the list” type list spec, you will get errors as invalid data. Follow the below steps to import the list items successfully.

  1. Navigate to Configurator > Lists.

    The Lists module appears with all the list specs present in the company.

  2. Click on the list card in which you want to import list items.
  3. Click on the View Design card to view the list spec design.
    The List Design page appears with the below columns.
    • Order
    • Identifier
    • Field Label
    • Data Type
    • Required


    In the above screenshot, the List data type is used for the Crop field and the list spec used is Field Crop.

  4. Now, switch to the Web App -> Lists module. Click the list which is configured to the main list field.
  5. You can see all the list items. Copy the List Nos.
  6. Go back to the Lists page, click the list card in which you want to import the list items.
  7. Click Import Items and download the Template. The template is downloaded in excel format.
  8. The downloaded template contains the field labels as columns along with the List No column.

  9. Enter the data in the downloaded template and Save the file.
    • List No: Enter the list numbers as per your requirement.
    • Column 1: For this field, the Text data type is used. Allows you to enter the item names.
    • Column 2: For this field, the List data type is used. Enter the List Nos which we copied in step 5.
  10. Now Import the saved file.

Now the Import will be successful. If the Import fails, download the error sheet, and solve the errors and upload the updated excel file again.
